PPDS kitchen & dining design - 2010 Women’s Symphony League Showhouse

The Women’s Symphony League of Austin engaged our select team of professional interior designers to create a smart, sophisticated, and marketable condominium unit to be featured in the 2010 Designer Showhouse being held in The Austonian, the tallest residential building in the Western United States. Our team, which included Leslie Fossler Interiors, Tim Cuppett Architecture, Dick Clark Architecture, Edwards + Mulhausen Interior Design, and Ekitta Studios, designed a spectacular two bedroom condo on the 11th floor. PPDS had the pleasure of designing the unit’s kitchen and dining space.

With its central location and breathtaking views, the kitchen serves as the heart of the unit. By incorporating strong materials such as metal, glass and wood, this much-loved room has evolved into a truly unique showpiece. The textural components of each finish selection create a visual play that will inspire many thoughtful conversations in years to come.

Metal panels on the island front provide durability and lend to the urban feel of the room. Custom hand-painted translucent panels at the pantry create reflective surfaces that enhance the fluid ambiance of the space.

The eclectic mosaic backsplash is reminiscent of champagne on the rocks. The combination of rich wenge cabinets with white oak floors creates an elegant feeling and contributes to the warmth that is immediately felt in this room.  From the custom pantry that rapidly changes from coffee to cocktail service, to the gorgeous mix of soapstone and quartz countertops, the space balances functionality with sophistication and becomes a main focal point of social gathering in the unit.

Together with The Austonian, a brand new 56-story luxury high-rise in the heart of downtown, a four-star energy rating from the City of Austin in its Green Building Rating System was achieved, equivalent to the LEED Gold Rating from the USGBC.
