PPDS Launches Procurement Division

PPDS is offering procurement services for our clients. It has come to our attention that this is a specialty service and one that requires expertise. Internally we have written and monitored millions of dollars of purchases. We have honed our skills to assure a smooth delivery of all purchases in a timely manner. It is just natural that we would add this to our list of services.

You know PPDS has been providing interior design services to corporate, retail, hospitality and residential clients for the past 29 years. Those services include space analysis, space planning, material/lighting/plumbing specifications, construction documents, furniture selection/procurement and finally installation. That is the full circle of design from the beginning to the end. Really it doesn’t get much better than that.

We have found that in-order to assure the best final product, management during all phases of work is essential. Once the construction documents are out the door and the general contractor has started work our next step is furniture. A budget is developed based on the proposed furniture layout. Items are selected, and an overall composition is developed. The budget is fluid and adjusts to items that are more expensive than anticipated. There is an up and down bob with the management of funds but at the end we are within budget. Note: Don’t forgo the special purchase of something very unique if it makes the design. You can always save money in other areas. Better to have a few unique pieces than a lot of vanilla.

Supervision – Our ability to place orders, track delivery and coordinate installation is crucial to completing a project on time. This year, we will write over 1,000 purchase orders. We have managed over $2,000,000 in funds. From start to finish it usually takes around 12 – 16 months. The furniture portion takes 8 weeks of selections and then 15 weeks to await delivery. On average we spend 600 hours managing furniture on a job. More than you would think I am sure.
