PPDS had the incredible opportunity to partner with M. S. Walker Companies, Inc. and Marco Traversa to provide design development for Cabana Palms, a restaurant and lounge set to open early Fall 2010 in North San Antonio.
We worked with the Restaurant team and ERT Lighting to create a finish and lighting package that would provide an exciting atmosphere. The space will suggest a tropical nature but be executed in an upscale way. Overall finish schemes incorporate fiery oranges and organic whites paired with a central concentration of leafy greens and dark chocolates.
Suspended palm leaves flutter upon entry while the custom wine displays will draw you further into the restaurant. Warm, interesting finishes including sculpted panels and highly textured circular relief wallcovering emphasize several of the booth areas while the mix of glossy white and matte ebony wainscoting circle the restaurant tying everything together.
Eye-catching accent lighting is seen in several large pendants as well as pattern-creating wall sconces at both the Lounge side’s VIP booth and the drink rails. Lighting is also used as a highlight in the under-lit restroom sinks. More noticeable tropical components comprised of a few of well-spaced tiki totems and ‘flowing lava’ bar top on the Cabana Patio add whimsical elements to the mix and are sure to start more than a few conversations.
We had a great time designing Cabana Palms and are really looking forward to seeing it completed!
